NEW DELHI: The Indian Premier League match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings at Eden Gardens was interrupted by sudden rain on Saturday, throwing the outcome into uncertainty.

KKR had just begun their chase of a daunting 202-run target and were 7 for no loss after one over when rain forced the players off the field.

With the showers showing no signs of relenting, the big question is: what happens if the match is completely washed out?
Who’s that IPL player?
If play does not resume even after utilising the extended one-hour window, the match will be declared a ‘No Result,’ and both teams will share one point each.
In that case, Punjab Kings would move up to fourth in the standings with 11 points from nine matches (five wins, three losses, one no result), strengthening their playoff hopes. KKR, on the other hand, would remain in sixth place, moving to seven points from nine games (three wins, five losses, one no result).
Earlier, Punjab Kings posted a strong total of 201 for 4, thanks to explosive half-centuries from Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh. The duo stitched a rapid 120-run opening stand in just 11.5 overs, with Arya smashing 69 off 35 balls and Prabhsimran crafting a brilliant 83 off 49 balls.
However, Kolkata’s bowlers fought back at the death, restricting PBKS to 40 runs in the final five overs. Vaibhav Arora (2/34) and Andre Russell (1/27) led the fightback, keeping KKR in the hunt — if the weather permits.
