Jasprit Bumrah’s son celebrated with his mother, Sanjana Ganesan, after his father dismissed Heinrich Klaasen during the match between Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Wankhede Stadium.
Jasprit Bumrah uprooted Klaasen’s off-stump with a fine yorker, sending the South African batsman back for 37 runs off 28 balls, which included three fours and two sixes.
Bumrah finished with bowling figures of 1/21.
Hardik Pandya said the decision was because of the possibility of the dew playing a role later in the match.
“Very excited, the way the last couple of days have gone,” he said, adding that they are backing all their batters. “Bumrah is fine, we don’t have to worry about him. If he wasn’t 100%, he wouldn’t be here.”
Earlier, after skipper Hardik Pandya opted to bowl first, Mumbai Indians used the conditions effectively and kept the Sunrisers batters under tight control from the start, preventing them from scoring freely. Will Jacks claimed 2/14 in his three overs, while Jasprit Bumrah (1/21), Trent Boult (1/29), and Hardik Pandya (1/42) were the other successful bowlers.
Sunrisers Hyderabad, who had successfully chased 246 in their previous match against Punjab Kings at home, struggled to get going and ended up with a below-par score in a match where dew was expected to play a role in the second innings.
Klaasen provided some late momentum, hitting 21 runs off Chahar in the 18th over with two sixes and two boundaries. This was the highest-scoring over of the innings.
Who’s that IPL player?
The innings concluded with Aniket Verma hitting two sixes off Pandya and Pat Cummins finishing with a six off the final delivery, taking SRH to 162/5.
