Informing Pakistan before Operation Sindoor was a crime, says Rahul Gandhi on Jaishankar's 'admission'

NEW DELHI: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday strongly criticised the government for allegedly informing Pakistan in advance about strikes on terror infrastructure under Operation Sindoor. Calling it a “crime,” he questioned, “Who authorised it?”Sharing a post on X, the leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha took aim at external affairs minister S Jaishankar for publicly stating that the Indian government had informed Pakistan ahead of the operation.“Informing Pakistan at the start of our attack was a crime. EAM has publicly admitted that GOI did it,” Gandhi wrote on X.He further enquired, “Who authorised it? How many aircraft did our air force lose as a result?”Gandhi shared an undated video of Jaishankar, where he is heard saying that India had informed Pakistan before carrying out strikes on terror infrastructure. “At the start of the operation, we had sent a message to Pakistan, saying, ‘We are striking at terrorist infrastructure and we are not striking at the military,'” Jaishankar can be heard saying in the video. The video continues, “So the military has the option of standing out and not interfering in this process. They chose not to take that good advice.”The Press Information Bureau (PIB) has refuted assertions that Jaishankar mentioned India informing Pakistan before Operation Sindoor. The PIB’s Fact Check Unit posted on X, clarifying that the minister had not made such statements and was being misquoted.Operation Sindoor was India’s response against terror terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
