Influencer Nancy Tyagi returns to Cannes, but her 2025 look has the internet divided

Nancy Tyagi is back at Cannes, and this time, she’s gone full green goddess. But while the influencer’s second self-made gown turned heads, not all the whispers were of admiration.

Who is Nancy Tyagi?

The 23-year-old fashion creator from Delhi, who made headlines last year with her 20 kg pink ruffled dream dress stitched out of 1000 metres of fabric, returned to the Cannes 2025 red carpet with yet another DIY showstopper. Drenched in shades of minty green and fantasy couture flair, her gown this year was inspired by floral architecture and fairytale drama, and yes, she stitched every petal, every pleat herself.

Sourcing fabric from Seelampur in North East Delhi, Nancy created a gown that featured a dramatic shoulder piece and a tulle train blooming with hand-crafted roses. Speaking to Brutt, Nancy explained that her love for flowers shaped the look — which she envisioned as a blend of “floral architecture, theatrical volume, and shimmering intricacy.” Her hair was styled in a classic bun, a soft curl framing her face, and her accessories were kept minimal with striking earrings to let the gown shine.

Nancy Tyagi’s second time at the Cannes has the internet divided

The internet has opinions — and they are clashing. Some fans threw fire emojis like confetti, with one user gushing that “others need to learn from her.” But the haters did not hold back. One critic wrote, “Such a bad outfit. Honestly, it’s too bad for Cannes,” while another admitted, “I know the girl worked really hard, but it did not feel special. Even last year felt overrated.”

Nancy Tyagi’s journey

Still, Nancy’s journey is nothing short of remarkable. She burst onto the Cannes scene in 2024 with that now-iconic pink gown that many said looked like it belonged in a Disney film. That look took her 30 days of stitching and dreaming. And whether you love her new gown or not, there is no denying this — Nancy Tyagi has built her red carpet legacy stitch by stitch.

She might not be everyone’s favourite this year, but she is definitely not fading into the background. Not on that carpet. Not in that dress.
