Former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik found a unique way to express his frustration after Pakistan’s six-wicket defeat to India in their Group A Champions Trophy clash in Dubai on Sunday.
When asked for his reaction by former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar during a panel discussion, Malik responded not with words but by singing a classic song:
“Dil ke armaan aasuwon me bah gaye … Hum wafa karke bhi tanha rah gaye …”

His response delighted the other panelists, but it also summed up the emotions of Pakistan fans following yet another disappointing performance from their team.

The legendary Pakistan pace trio of Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis and Akhtar also criticised the Mohammad Rizwan-led side for their poor showing. Pakistan, who had already lost to New Zealand by 60 runs in the tournament opener, are now on the brink of elimination before even playing their final group-stage match.
Batting first, Pakistan struggled to build momentum and were bowled out for just 241. Between overs 10 and 30, they managed only five boundaries, reflecting their lack of intent against a disciplined Indian bowling attack. In contrast, India chased down the target with ease, thanks to Virat Kohli’s unbeaten 100.
Akram was particularly critical of Pakistan’s approach. “India hit 11 boundaries in the first 10 overs. Pakistan hit 11 boundaries in the first 20 overs. The match was over there,” Akram said on the ‘Dressing Room’ show. He also questioned the team selection, adding, “I don’t know what they were thinking.”
Waqar echoed the sentiment, pointing to Pakistan’s lack of runs and bowling discipline. “Indian bowlers were disciplined. We didn’t have enough discipline in our bowling,” he said.
Akhtar, in a separate social media video, said he wasn’t surprised by the defeat. “I knew what would happen. This is just brainless and clueless management,” he remarked, blaming Pakistan’s team selection and strategy.
Pakistan will face Bangladesh in Rawalpindi, but their fate may already be sealed depending on other results.
