India-Pakistan tensions: Telecom operators step up vigil, roll out measures to ensure uninterrupted connectivity

Indian telecom operators have implemented immediate measures to maintain uninterrupted connectivity, amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan. These include enabling intra-circle roaming, setting up control centres for round-the-clock monitoring, and stocking up diesel for telecom towers to ensure seamless connectivity. The telecommunications department conducted a meeting with telecom operators on May 7, directing them to set up national-level control centres and ensure stable network operations through constant coordination. During the meeting, all telecommunications companies pledged their full support to the government, agreeing to activate immediate measures including 24/7 network monitoring, in response to the current situation, according to news agency PTI, quoting sources. The telecommunications department issued a detailed memorandum outlining these measures on the same day.Service providers were instructed to provide contact details of their control centre nodal officers and ensure seamless roaming arrangements for round-the-clock customer connectivity. They received instructions to maintain sufficient diesel reserves to power towers through DG sets during potential power outages. The companies were directed to set up monitoring centres and ‘war rooms’ to keep constant watch and coordinate closely. They were also told to provide immediate notifications regarding any network or site disruptions.India last night, successfully foiled Pakistan’s attempt to target military bases in Jammu, Pathankot, Udhampur, and other areas with missiles and drones. The defence ministry later affirmed that India remains “fully prepared to defend its sovereignty and ensure the safety of its people.”The Indian Army on Friday asserted that Pakistan’s armed forces launched multiple drone and munition attacks along the entire western border, which were “effectively repulsed.”In addition, Pakistani troops engaged in “numerous ceasefire violations” along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, the Army shared through an early morning X post, accompanied by video footage and a strong message of retaliation.“OPERATION SINDOOR – Pakistan Armed Forces launched multiple attacks using drones and other munitions along entire Western Border on the intervening night of 08 and 09 May 2025. Pak troops also resorted to numerous ceasefire violations along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir,” the post added. The Army further confirmed that the drone attacks were “effectively repulsed” and that a “befitting reply” had been delivered in response to the violations
