IAS officer Sonal Goel awarded at global women’s summit

IAS officer Sonal Goel, secretary to the government of Tripura, received the ‘Empowerment & Development Woman Award’ at the International Women’s Day 2025 event in Bangkok, Thailand. The event was hosted by the United Peace Keepers Federal Council (UNPKFC) and the United Nations Associations of Coachella Valley, USA.
Goel spoke about gender inclusion and women’s empowerment. She highlighted Modi government policies supporting women-led development.
A 2008 batch IAS officer, Goel has worked on initiatives like Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao in Haryana and set up Tripura’s first all-women polling booth in 2010.
The event that saw several global women leaders in attendance included discussions on women in leadership and gender equality.
Sonal shared photos and videos from the event on her X (formerly twitter) account and wrote, “This recognition is not mine alone—it belongs to every girl who dares to dream, every woman who refuses to give up, and every person who believes that equality is not an option, it is a necessity.”
