NEW DELHI: Sachin Tendulkar penned an emotional tribute to Rohit Sharma following the latter’s decision to retire from Test cricket on Wednesday. Rohit made the announcement ahead of India’s upcoming tour of England next month but confirmed he will continue to play in the 50-over format. Tendulkar, who had handed Rohit his Test debut cap during the 2013 match against the West Indies at Eden Gardens, reflected on the journey they’ve shared.“I remember presenting you with your Test cap in 2013 at Eden Gardens and then standing with you on the balcony of Wankhede Stadium the other day – your journey has been a remarkable one. From then to now, you have given your best to Indian cricket as a player and as a captain. Well done, Rohit, on your Test career, and best wishes for what lies ahead,” Tendulkar wrote.In 67 Tests, Rohit amassed 4,301 runs at an average of 40.57, including 12 centuries, with a highest score of 212 against South Africa in 2019. As captain, he led India in 24 Tests, registering 12 wins, nine defeats, and three draws.
