Ibrahim Ali Khan and Khushi Kapoor’s much-anticipated film ‘Nadaaniyan‘ premiered on OTT on Friday, but instead of making waves, it has been met with lukewarm responses from audiences. Viewers have expressed disappointment over the film’s weak storyline, lackluster dialogues, and the performances of the lead actors. Adding to the growing criticism, Hrithik Roshan’s mother, Pinkie Roshan, has also given a thumbs down to the movie, agreeing with a scathing review shared on social media.
The buzz started when Instagram user Freddy Birdy posted a brutally honest review of Nadaaniyan, taking a dig at its predictable plot and extravagant yet superficial storytelling. The review sarcastically commented on how the film resembled Student of the Year 3 and drew visual inspiration from Crazy Rich Asians, portraying a world where the wealthy are miserable and the middle class is content.
Birdy further mocked the lack of originality in the film, writing, “The beautiful part of Nadaaniyan is that it stays completely away from anything remotely original.” He also humorously pointed out that Ibrahim Ali Khan’s acting offered “two actors in one” due to his resemblance to Saif Ali Khan and his voice being similar to Sanjay Dutt.
In a surprising turn, Pinkie Roshan joined the conversation in the comment section, lending her agreement to the review. She wrote, “Totally go with this hilarious review.” Her remark quickly caught attention, as netizens were intrigued by her candid response to the film’s reception.
With Netflix backing Nadaaniyan, many expected it to follow the platform’s track record of high-quality content, including acclaimed hits like Sacred Games, Jamtara, and Darlings. However, instead of garnering praise, Nadaaniyan has only fueled conversations about the decline of Bollywood’s romantic comedy genre.
While neither Ibrahim Ali Khan nor Khushi Kapoor have responded to the backlash, the film’s reception suggests that audiences are growing increasingly critical of formulaic, glossy cinema that lacks depth.
