NEW DELHI: Mumbai Indians’ star batter Rohit Sharma was spotted swapping his cricket bat for the steering wheel of a boat during a team bonding session in Jamnagar.
In a viral video circulating on social media, the former MI skipper was seen confidently navigating the waters, accompanied by young batter Tilak Varma and a couple of support staff members.
After a disappointing start to their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 campaign, losing to Chennai Super Kings at Chepauk, the Mumbai Indians squad took a much-needed breather in Jamnagar.
Watch:
With their next fixture against Gujarat Titans still a few days away, Hardik Pandya’s men used the downtime to engage in team-building activities before returning to rigorous practice sessions.
MI’s opening match didn’t go as planned, with their batting lineup failing to find rhythm on a sluggish Chennai pitch.
Rohit Sharma, in particular, had a forgettable outing, getting dismissed for a duck — once again to a left-arm pacer in Khaleel Ahmed. The silver lining, however, came from the performances of Deepak Chahar and debutant Vignesh Puthur, whose three-wicket haul showcased immense promise.
Mumbai Indians missed the presence of regular skipper Hardik Pandya in the opening game, as he was serving a one-match suspension due to a slow-over rate penalty from IPL 2024.

However, the dynamic all-rounder is expected to be back in action against Gujarat Titans, which will provide a much-needed boost to the team’s balance.
One major concern for Mumbai Indians remains the availability of Jasprit Bumrah.
While MI bowling coach Paras Mhambrey has confirmed that the ace pacer is making steady progress, there is still no official return date. Bumrah continues his rehabilitation at the BCCI Centre of Excellence, and his comeback will be crucial for MI’s campaign.
