Govinda reveals Kader Khan almost drowned after resuming shoot without him: 'Toh bahut gaali-vaali diye mujhe...'

Actor Govinda recently reminisced about his memorable partnership with the late Kader Khan and revealed a disagreement they had towards the end of their collaboration. The duo, known for their on-screen comedic timing in the 1990s and early 2000s, appeared together in films such as ‘Hero No. 1’ and ‘Saajan Chale Sasural’.
In a recent conversation with Bheeshm International, Govinda shared an incident that took place on the set of their film. Govinda had been on set since early morning and finally decided to take a break for lunch. However, during that time, Kader asked him to give the shot and did not accept his excuse that he was feeling hungry, having been on set since early morning.
He shared that he arrived on set at 7 AM and waited for hours before his shot was scheduled at 12:10 PM. Feeling hungry, he ordered food, but Kader Khan questioned the timing. ‘Maine bola bhookh lagi hai, khana khaenge.” Toh Kader Khan ji aaye aur bole, ‘Yeh time hai khane ka?’ Toh maine bola, ‘Haan, lo aap bhi khaiye.’ ‘Chaliye, shot dete hain.’ Maine kaha, ‘Nahi sir, main subah se aaya hoon. In logon ne mera shot nahi lagaya. Ab main khana khaunga, mujhe bhookh lagi hai. Aap aaiye.’ ‘Arrey, main keh raha hoon tu shot de de”, he revealed.

The ‘Naseeb’ actor shared another moment from their conversation: Kader Khan told him, “I’ve heard that you’ve been explaining a lot these days. Are you scared? Are you afraid of water?” Govinda replied, “I’m not afraid of anyone except God, sir.” Kader Khan then said, “Come on, give the shot.” Govinda responded, “No sir, please wait a little, then we’ll do it.”

Although the situation became tense, Govinda reflected on Kader’s influence on his career, expressing gratitude for the love and guidance he had received from him. ‘Toh bahut gaali-vaali diye mujhe. Aise kabhi dete nahi the. Mujhe bahut prem karte the. Mujh par unki bahut kripa rahi,’ he stated.
After Govinda declined to give the shot, Kader proceeded with the scene on his own. However, the shoot took an unexpected turn when the boats they were filming on capsized, taking the camera down with them. Kader also disappeared for a brief time during the chaos. When he finally resurfaced, he approached Govinda and kissed his hand. The actor stated that Govinda had something special in him, to which the ‘Partner’ actor reacted, ‘Sir, mujhe ye baat sunne ke liye kitni gaali khani padi.’”
