Bhuvan Bam expressed his hopes that Taaza Khabar will demonstrate digital creators’ talents and help pave the way for their smoother transition into Bollywood.
Bhuvan Bam’s highly anticipated Taaza Khabar sequel, a Hotstar Specials series, premiered last month. The show sees Bhuvan reprising his role as Vasant, a sanitation worker with the unique ability to foresee the future. As the series continues to captivate audiences, Bhuvan sat down for an interview, where he expressed his desire to venture into Bollywood, signalling his aspirations to make a bigger mark on the big screen while his fanbase grows with this series.
Speaking with Hindustan Times, Bhuvan Bam expressed his hope that the show will prove digital creators’ ability, making it easier for them to transition into Bollywood. He said, “I hope it helps me transition more smoothly into Bollywood, proving that digital creators can also thrive in mainstream cinema.”
Calling his recently released series an “audition tape” for Bollywood, Bhuvan added, “In Taaza Khabar 2, I’ve pushed myself beyond the boundaries and tested my acting range, especially with scenes that demand a lot of vulnerability and strength. It’s not just about making people laugh or feel emotional – it’s about showing that I can be versatile and hold my own in different genres. I see it as a way to prove myself to both the audiences and the industry.”
During the same conversation, Bhuvan Bam credited actors Jaaved Jaaferi, Shriya Pilgaonkar and Mahesh Manjrekar for the success of their project. Heaping praises on the talented trio for what they bring to the table, he added, “Working with such an incredible cast was inspiring and intimidating. There were moments when their performance would ignite something new in my own approach to a scene. I learned a lot just by observing their craft.”
Apart from headlining Taaza Khabar 2, Bhuvan Bam has also donned the hat of the co-producer for the series. Available for streaming on Disney+ Hotstar, the show’s storyline picks up from where it ended in the first season. FYI, the first season of the show premiered in January 2023.
Following the warm response received by the first season of Bhuvan Bam’s show, fans had been waiting for the new installment. As for the storyline, the second season explores Vasant’s (played by Bhuvan) journey as he navigates new challenges. Joining him to add stardust to the show are Shriya Pilgaonkar, Prathamesh Parab, Deven Bhojani, and Shilpa Shukla who play significant roles in the show.
