The police rushed to the spot and rushed injured to hospital and sent the bodies for postmortem.
A five-month-old baby and a woman were among the five people killed in a collision between a truck and a double-decker bus on the Yamuna Expressway in Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh on late Wednesday evening, the police said.
15 others were injured in the accident that took place when the bus was heading from Delhi towards Azamgarh and rammed into the truck from behind. The impact was such that the bus was shattered and trapped the passengers inside.
Injured Rushed To Hospital
The incident occurred in the Tappal police station area of the city, after which the police rushed the injured to the hospital for treatment, CO Khair, Varun Kumar said.
“In the Tappal police station area, upon receiving information about an accident last night, the police immediately reached the spot and carried out rescue operations, sending the injured to the hospital for treatment. The bodies of five deceased were sent for post-mortem. Legal proceedings have been initiated. Traffic is functioning smoothly, and the situation at the spot is peaceful,” Aligarh Police said in an X post.
The police also sent the bodies for postmortem after which three bodies were identified and the identities of the remaining two were yet to be ascertained.
