NEW DELHI: Chaos unfolded both on and off the field as Delhi Capitals’ four-match winning streak in IPL 2025 came to a halt in a high-octane clash against Mumbai Indians at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday. The visitors clinched a thrilling 12-run victory, but the post-match buzz was dominated by a violent scuffle between fans that erupted in the stands.
A video of the altercation went viral shortly after the match, showing fans engaged in a heated brawl, with punches thrown and even a female fan involved in the chaos.

Stadium security intervened, but the footage raised concerns about crowd control and safety at major sporting events.

On the field, tensions were no less intense. A dramatic collision between Delhi batter Karun Nair and Mumbai pacer Jasprit Bumrah sparked a heated exchange. Nair, who played a stunning knock of 89 off just 40 balls, was seen explaining the incident to Bumrah as emotions flared. The situation cooled down only after intervention from Mumbai skipper Hardik Pandya, with Rohit Sharma’s animated reaction in the background going viral online.

Adding to Delhi’s woes, captain Axar Patel was fined Rs 12 lakh for a slow over-rate, his first such offence of the season under IPL’s Code of Conduct.
With the defeat, Delhi Capitals slipped to second in the standings, while Mumbai revived their campaign in spectacular fashion.
