The newly launched FASTag Annual Pass has seen a remarkable response, crossing the landmark figure of five lakh users across the country within just four days, an official statement said on Monday.Introduced on Independence Day, the pass allows non-commercial vehicle users to make a one-time payment of Rs 3,000 for one year’s validity or 200 toll plaza crossings. It is applicable at about 1,150 toll booths on National Highways and expressways, making travel more convenient and economical for road users.Tamil Nadu led with the highest number of annual pass purchases in the first four days, followed by Karnataka and Haryana, PTI reported. The statement further added that most transactions through the annual pass were recorded at toll plazas in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.According to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, the enthusiasm was visible from day one. Till 7 pm on the first day of implementation, around 1.4 lakh users purchased and activated the annual pass and around 1.39 lakh transactions were recorded on toll plazas, the ministry’s statement noted, as cited by ANI.The pass can be activated within two hours of making the one-time payment through the Rajmargyatra App or the NHAI website. Users also receive SMS alerts confirming zero deduction of toll fee. Officials from NHAI and nodal officers have been deployed at toll plazas to ensure a smooth travel experience, while the 1033 National Highway Helpline has been strengthened with over 100 additional executives to handle user grievances.Around 20,000 to 25,000 concurrent users are logging into the Rajmargyatra App at any given time, reflecting the strong demand for the service. NHAI said it is also addressing user queries through multiple channels. With FASTag already having a penetration rate of nearly 98% and more than eight crore users across the country, authorities see the annual pass as another milestone in electronic toll collection.
