Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher detained by Punjab Police

NEW DELHI: The Punjab Police have detained farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher on Wednesday.
The farmer leader was detained in Zirakpur, news agency ANI reported.
This detention comes amid fresh round of talks between protesting farmers and a central delegation held in Chandigarh earlier in the day.
Union minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Pralhad Josh and Piyush Goyal held talks with the farmers.
After meeting with farmers’ leaders, Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that the discussion was very positive.
“The meeting took place in a very positive atmosphere and the discussions were very positive. The next date for the meeting is May 4,” Chouhan said.
Punjab minister Harpal Singh Cheema said, “The meeting took place in a very positive atmosphere, and the next date for the meeting is May 4. The discussions were very positive, and the officials of the agriculture ministry will hold discussions with all the stakeholders who want a legal guarantee on MSP.”
Ahead of the talks, farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher had said a 28-member delegation of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha will take part in the meeting.
The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha are spearheading the farmers’ stir.
