Farida Jalal says Shah Rukh Khan didn't have a mother so she felt like giving him more 'mamta' when they played mother-son in movies

Shah Rukh Khan and Farida Jalal have worked together in many movies. While she played Shah Rukh Khan’s mother in ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai‘, Jalal was Kajol’s mom in ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge‘. In a recent interview, the veteran actress has opened up on her bond with Shah Rukh. She opened up on why they had such a great mother-son relationship on-screen.
Jalal said in an interview with Galatta Plus, “I had the opportunity of being with him in so many films. He was so full of life. I have never seen this kind of energy in anyone. I have enjoyed every moment of my journey with him.” She further added, “I have done so many films with him, played his mother. I really feel that feeling of a mother-son relationship with Shah Rukh. I really feel that and since he didn’t have a mother in his life so I used to always feel that I should give him more and more of all the ‘mamta’ I can. It would come naturally to me.”
She had met SRK first time on the sets of ‘Dil Aashna Hai’. The film was directed by Hema Malini and starred Divya Bharti alongside the actor. However, when she met him again during ‘DDLJ’, he was a completely different actor. “On the sets of DDLJ, he was a different Shah Rukh. Success does that to you also,” recalled Farida.
For those not in the know, Shah Rukh’s mother Lateef Fatima Khan had passed away in 1990. The actor had spoken about his parents recently and said during Locarno Meets podcast, “My parents had passed away by the time I joined films; both of them were not alive. I don’t know, for some reason, I always felt I’ll make films that are very big, so that my mom and dad can see them from heaven. I still think my mom’s a star, and it works. I think I even know the star she is.”
On work front, while Farida was last seen in ‘Heeramandi’, SRK was seen last in ‘Dunki’. He is gearing up next for his film ‘King‘.
