Egregious, fake: What is the row over Elon Musk's Pentagon visit today?
Elon Musk will visit Pentagon today on an invitation from Pete Hegseth who claimed secret warfare with China is not on the agenda.

Elon Musk will visit the Pentagon today on an invitation from defense secretary Pete Hegseth. This led to what the Republicans called a fake news overdrive as the New York Times reported that Elon Musk would be briefed on Petangon’s top-secret plan for any war that might break out with China. Elon Musk does not hold a government position and is already at the center of a major nationwide protest for his influence on government decisions. And Musk is considering major cuts to the Pentagon for his overall mandate of cost-cutting.

Donald Trump, Pete Hegseth, Elon Musk, Pentagon rip NYT article

Donald Trump ripped Maggie Habermann, the writer of the article, and called her Maggot Hagerman. The president posted a long rant busting the news and said NYT’s concept for the story is that because Elon does some business in China, he will immediately go to top Chinese officials and reveal what he gets to know.
Pentagon’s chief spokesman Sean Parnell said the article was completely false and egregious. While Trump’s post did not dismiss the NYT article’s claim that Musk would be briefed about a secret war plan against China, Parnell said Musk would be coming just for a visit.
NYT said top military brass from the Pentagon would brief Musk and the briefing would include a slideshow on how the US plans to fight a war with China. “We want a guy like Elon Musk in the Defense Department to help us come up with creative solutions to the problems that we face today. But this article — this article is ridiculous. It’s fake. And I say it on the record,” Parnell said.
Elon Musk decried the ‘fake news’ and trained his gun at inside leaks from Pentagon who are giving maliciously false information to the NYT. “The New York Times is pure propaganda. Also, I look forward to the prosecutions of those at the Pentagon who are leaking maliciously false information to NYT,” he tweeted early on Friday morning, sharing a Truth Social Post from President Donald Trump denying the claims.
“They will be found,” Musk added.
The Wall Street Journal reported what NYT claimed and said that Musk had been scheduled to be briefed on the war planning against China. A source close to Musk told The Journal that the Department of Government Efficiency lead would be in the meeting because he requested it.
Pete Hegseth said the meeting with Elon Musk would be about innovation, efficiencies and smarter production and not about “top secret China war plans”.
