NEW DELHI: The IPL 2025 clash between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Delhi Capitals (DC) on Saturday didn’t just provide a high-scoring encounter; it delivered a dose of drama too.
In a fiery moment at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Saturday, veteran pacer Ishant Sharma found himself in a tense verbal exchange with DC’s explosive finisher, Ashutosh Sharma.
The altercation unfolded on the final ball of the 19th over of Delhi’s innings.

Ishant bowled a sharp bouncer that rose awkwardly past Ashutosh, looping toward wicketkeeper Jos Buttler.
Gujarat appealed, convinced the ball grazed the bat or glove. However, the on-field umpire signalled it had only hit the batter’s shoulder.
Ashutosh quickly turned to point at his shoulder, even rolling up his sleeve to indicate the point of impact.
It was a move that visibly frustrated Ishant. Words were exchanged, and before long, GT captain Shubman Gill joined in, debating the decision with the umpires.

The incident, though brief, added a spark to an already intense match.
Ashutosh, who had been playing a blistering knock, scoring 37 off just 19 balls, fell just one ball later to Sai Kishore.
Ishant had a good outing, returning with figures of 1/19 in his three overs.

Despite the tempers, Delhi posted a competitive 203/8 in their 20 overs, thanks to contributions from KL Rahul (28), Karun Nair (31), and Axar Patel (39).
The fiery Ashutosh cameo only added fuel to Delhi’s momentum before the innings closed.
This flashpoint between the two Sharmas wasn’t just a clash of names, it was a clash of egos, timing, and rising stakes as the IPL 2025 season hits its stride. With playoff spots on the line, expect more such fiery exchanges as the league heats up.
