Dilip Kumar, a renowned Bollywood actor, faced a challenging period when he secretly married Asma Rehman, which devastated his wife Saira Banu. Despite the turmoil, Dilip ultimately realized his mistake, divorced Asma, and focused on strengthening his commitment to Saira, remaining devoted to her until his last breath. This incident, discussed in his autobiography, highlights his deep regret.

Dilip Kumar was a beloved Bollywood actor and a highly sought-after bachelor in the 50s and 60s. Many women admired him, but he broke many hearts when he married Saira Banu at 44.
Saira Banu was just 22 when she married Dilip Kumar. However, after 16 years, their marriage faced trouble when Dilip secretly wed Asma Rehman in Hyderabad. Saira found out through a newspaper, leaving him filled with guilt.
At first, Saira refused to believe that Dilip Kumar had betrayed her, but the truth soon came out, leaving her devastated. Realizing his mistake, Dilip admitted his wrongdoing and asked for time to legally divorce Asma. Before finalizing the divorce, he signed a commitment letter to Saira, promising to uphold their marriage. From that moment on, he remained devoted to her until his last breath.Dilip Kumar shared details about his second marriage in his autobiography, The Substance and the Shadow. He recounted meeting Asma Rehman in Hyderabad during a cricket match. What started as a simple interaction with a fan soon took an unexpected turn. Introduced to him by his sister, Asma was a married woman with three children. However, Dilip later realized that Asma and her husband frequently appeared wherever he went, leading to a situation that was carefully orchestrated to secure his commitment.

Dilip Kumar married Asma Rehman in 1982, leaving Saira Banu heartbroken. Looking back on this difficult chapter, he felt that he had been caught in a situation designed to create turmoil in his marriage. However, he believed there was a greater purpose behind it, as it ultimately strengthened his bond with Saira. Despite this realization, he deeply regretted the pain he had caused her and the loss of trust she once had in him.
