‘Farzi’, a captivating crime thriller series, has enthralled audiences with its complex plot and exceptional cast. Initially planned as a film featuring Shahid Kapoor and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, it evolved into a web series with Vijay Sethupathi replacing Siddiqui, offering a fresh dynamic to the narrative.
The series tells the story of Sunny, played by Shahid Kapoor, a gifted artist who feels deeply troubled by the economic inequalities in society. Desperate to rescue his grandfather’s struggling printing press, Sunny teams up with his close friend Firoz (Bhuvan Arora) and takes a risk by entering the treacherous world of counterfeiting.
Before long, their operation draws the attention of law enforcement, especially Michael Vedanayagam, portrayed by Vijay Sethupathi, a dedicated officer who is resolute about dismantling the counterfeit network. Sunny gets caught up in a high-stakes game of cat and mouse as he delves deeper into counterfeiting, testing his morals and strength.
‘Farzi’ is created by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, who initially planned it as a film but turned it into an eight-episode series for a deeper story. Filming started in July 2021, using locations like Mumbai, Goa, Nepal, and Jordan to add authenticity and a global view.
Premiering on Amazon Prime Video on February 10, 2023, ‘Farzi’ has received widespread acclaim for its engaging storyline and strong performances. Overall, it stands out as a thought-provoking series that explores the complexities of society.
