Did you know Shah Rukh Khan, not Saif Ali Khan was FIRST choice for Hum Saath Saath Hain? Sooraj Barjatya reveals...

In the 1990s, Salman Khan was known as Prem, thanks to his films with Sooraj Barjatya, while Shah Rukh Khan became famous as Rahul. Though they were contemporaries, Sooraj never worked with SRK. However, the director recently revealed that he had approached SRK for Hum Saath Saath Hain for Saif Ali Khan’s role.
In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Sooraj Barjatya revealed that he once considered Shah Rukh Khan for Hum Saath Saath Hain, specifically for the role played by Saif Ali Khan. However, this was a long time ago, and it remains unclear if he intended to cast both SRK and Salman Khan together. The film featured Saif opposite Karisma Kapoor, along with Tabu, Sonali Bendre, Neelam, and Mohnish Bahl.

In a previous video on Rajshri Productions’ YouTube channel, Sooraj mentioned that Saif was quite nervous while shooting Hum Saath Saath Hain. At the time, he was facing a low phase in his career and felt the pressure of working alongside big stars. He put in extra effort, memorizing his lines repeatedly.

While filming the song Suno Ji Dulhan, Saif Ali Khan struggled to imitate Mahesh Thakur and Alok Nath. Sooraj Barjatya later discovered that Saif was losing sleep over stress. His wife, Amrita Singh, revealed he kept practicing in front of the mirror. After proper rest, he performed the scene perfectly in one take.
