The IMD has issued a warning for extremely heavy rainfall over the next three days in Delhi, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh.

Parts of Delhi and several other states are set to receive extremely heavy rain over the next three days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) warned on Thursday.

According to the weather office, a depression that originated over central India is expected to bring heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand, Delhi, parts of Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh over the next three days.

A generally cloudy sky, with moderate to heavy rain, accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds was on the forecast over Delhi on Thursday, the IMD stated.

In an X post, the IMD said, “Depression over Northwest Madhya Pradesh and neighbourhood near latitude 26.7°N and longitude 78.3°E, about 60 km south-southeast of Agra (Uttar Pradesh). To move slowly north- north-northeastwards during next 24 hrs. System is under continuous surveillance of Doppler Weather Radars at Delhi and Lucknow.”

The weather department also shared a picture showing rain activity over and near Delhi.

STATE-WISE WEATHER PREDICTION

The IMD said Uttarakhand is likely to experience light to moderate rainfall from September 12 to 14, with heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in isolated areas.

Haryana and Delhi are expected to see light to moderate rain, with heavy rainfall at times between September 12 and 15.

East and west Uttar Pradesh may experience heavy to extremely heavy rainfall during this period.

In Madhya Pradesh, heavy rainfall is expected on September 12, followed by moderate to heavy rain over the next few days.

West Rajasthan could experience heavy rainfall on September 12, and East Rajasthan may receive heavy to very heavy rainfall on September 12 and 13.
