RAIPUR: Chhattisgarh chief minister Vishnu Deo Sai visited the remote village of Galgam in Bijapur district’s Usoor area on Thursday to spend the day with CRPF jawans and residents and celebrate the success of Operation Karegutta Hills. The ‘decisive’ operation — the biggest ever in Bastar division — resulted in the elimination of 31 hardcore Maoists over a 24-day period and the seizure of a large cache of arms, including a sniper rifle, over 800 rockets and 450 IEDs.Sai travelled nearly 500km to Galgam, which is right next to the Telangana border and overlooked by the Karegutta Hill range that was the site of the massive operation.CM shared a meal with jawans and praised them for their extraordinary courage and dedication. He called the mission a victory for the entire state. “This area has long been considered a Maoist stronghold. This successful operation marks a pivotal step toward a Naxal-free Chhattisgarh. Despite operating in 44-degree heat, you have shown unmatched bravery. I salute your indomitable spirit,” he said.Sai emphasised state govt’s focus on transforming security camps into “facilitation centres” that bring essential services to the remotest corners of Bastar. He noted that the first security camp under the current administration was set up in Muler, which has brought ration, electricity, healthcare, schools, and mobile connectivity to surrounding villages.“Under the guidance of PM Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah, the anti-Naxal strategy has made steady progress. Govt is committed to making Chhattisgarh Maoist-free by March 2026,” CM said.CM Sai highlighted the importance of public participation, particularly through initiatives like “Niyad Nellanar”, which has deepened govt’s engagement with local communities.
