
NEW DELHI: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered a case against a Senior Passport Superintendent at the Regional Passport Office in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh on charges of possessing disproportionate assets.
The accused official has been identified as Deepak Chandra.
The CBI’ FIR alleges that Chandra amassed disproportionate assets worth Rs 85,06,900, a staggering 146.43 per cent more than his known sources of income, between July 30, 2018, and September 30, 2024.
Following the registration of the case, CBI conducted searches at Chandra’s residential and official premises in Ghaziabad and Patna.
They uncovered approximately Rs 60 lakh in cash and several incriminating documents. These documents pertained to bank deposits, sale deeds, investment receipts, and vehicle registration certificates, among others.
The CBI’s investigation is ongoing, officials said.
