Cameron Diaz will soon be seen opposite Jamie Foxx in the film Back In Action. The actress had been away from the big screen for a long time.
It has been nearly a decade since Cameron Diaz appeared on the big screen. Back in 2018, the actress announced her retirement from acting and ventured into business with her wine brand Avaline. Over the years, while Diaz had completely refocused her life away from the limelight, she is now set to return to Hollywood with a series of new projects in the works. In a recent conversation, the actress opened up on her career, further reflecting on what made her return to the field.
During an October 15 conversation at Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Summit, the 52-year-old shared how she got engrossed in her family life with her husband’s immense support. “We were in the house for a long time, which was amazing. So, I had to push myself. My husband, he’s just the best. He was just like, ‘You’ve been supporting us and building the family.’ And supporting him in his businesses. He’s like, ‘It’s time for us to support you and let mommy ascend and do her thing,” she said, as quoted by ENews.
Reflecting on her decision to retire, Diaz explained that it was something she had to do at that time. “It felt like the right thing for me to do to reclaim my own life, and I just really didn’t care about anything else. Nobody’s opinion, nobody’s success, no one’s offer, no one’s anything could change my mind about my decision of taking care of myself and building the life that I really wanted to have,” she continued.
Cameron Diaz, who will soon share the screen with Jamie Foxx in the upcoming film Back in Action, also spoke up about how she couldn’t turn down the Ray actor. “I could say no to him. He said, ‘Come with me,’ and I was like, ‘Okay, let’s do it. It is our third film together,” she shared. Diaz and Jamie have worked in the films Any Given Sunday and Annie.
