Bomb hoax on Kochi-Delhi IndiGo flight

NAGPUR: A Delhi-bound IndiGo flight with 157 passengers on board made an emergency landing in Nagpur Tuesday after receiving a bomb threat, reports Shishir Arya. The flight, which originated from Muscat, was on its way to Delhi after its scheduled stop in Kochi.After a thorough scanning at Nagpur, the threat was declared a hoax. Apart from the 157 passengers, there were six crew members on board.The email, received by the Cochin International Airport Limited at 6.30am, was read by airport authorities around 9.30am. The pilot was relayed about it mid-air, leading to the diversion. The passengers were checked, and the flight took off for Delhi around 3pm.The email sender identified himself as Alex Paul Menon and said a pipe bomb in the aircraft would blow up Kochi airport to avenge Ajmal Kasab’s hanging, arrests of Pallan Arun (IPS), and Youtuber Savukku Shankar. The email also spoke of plans to blow up IGI Airport at Delhi.
