Blake Lively vs Justin Baldoni: Christina Hendricks and Chris O'Dowd react to 'It Ends With Us' legal drama "It's WILD" - Exclusive

Hollywood stars Christina Hendricks and Chris O’Dowd have weighed in on the ongoing legal drama surrounding It Ends With Us, starring Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni. While discussing their new series ‘Small Town, Big Story’, the duo acknowledged the chaos surrounding the highly publicised dispute that spiralled into multimillion-dollar lawsuits, contrasting it with their own filming experience.
The new series follows Hendricks’ character of a film producer, who brings her Hollywood production hack home to a small Irish town, and seemingly, throws the spotlight on a secret that’s been kept hidden since the eve of the Millennium. When asked if their show takes references from any real drama on Hollywood production sets, much like Lively and Baldoni, O’Dowd admitted to ETimes that he hadn’t followed the controversy closely but was aware of it through his wife. “We tried to avoid whatever went on over there,” he quipped, prompting Hendricks to add, “I can’t believe what I’m watching!”
Chris admitted, “You know what, I haven’t really kept up on it, but my wife has been reading bits and pieces and going ‘This stuff is wild’.”
Hendricks, on the other hand, confessed, “It’s my morning news. It’s a soap opera. I can’t believe it,” she said.
The legal turmoil surrounding It Ends With Us has captivated Hollywood, with reports of production disputes and legal battles overshadowing the film’s release. However, Hendricks and O’Dowd made it clear that their own experience filming Small Town, Big Story was vastly different.
“There was no one trying to blow each other up on this show. There was a lot of respect,” Hendricks added, assuring “No hidden agendas behind the scenes. Not that I know of…”
O’Dowd also reflected on the pressures of working in Hollywood, acknowledging that tensions can arise in high-stakes environments. “Sometimes, I think that in some environments, there’s so much pressure, and you can understand how people would have arguments with each other, but that kind of stuff, I don’t know… it feels like other issues,” he noted. “But for the most part, our shoot was fairly straightforward. We were dealing with the strikes, rain, the forest in the middle of winter and that kind of stuff.”
Hendricks agreed, expressing excitement about reuniting with castmates at the upcoming premiere. “It’ll be a little love fest. So, no Lively-Baldoni over here,” she quipped.
While It Ends With Us continues to make headlines for its off-screen drama, fans can catch Christina Hendricks as Wendy Patterson alongside Paddy Considine as Seamus Proctor, Eileen Walsh as Catherine Proctor and others in this comedy series.
