Sivasri Skandaprasad is a Carnatic singer, and she is best known for working in Mani Ratnam’s film ‘Ponniyin Selvan’. Sivasri was born in 1996 to Seerkazhi Sri J Skandaprasad, who is a famous Mridangam maestro. Her upbringing in a family which is deeply rooted in classical music shaped her career as a professional Carnatic singer.
Sivasri’s artistic pursuits go beyond being a Carnatic singer. For the unversed, Sivasri is also a Bharatanatyam dancer and a Namasankeerthanam artist. Over the years, she has performed at many prestigious places in Chennai; she has also lent vocals for many popular Bharatanatyam dancers.
Not just this, Sivasri is also passionate about arts and culture, as she has represented India in a few international cultural exchange programs. As per reports, she travelled to Denmark and South Korea to showcase India’s music and dance globally as part of the Indian Centre for Cultural Relations (ICCR).
Interestingly, Sivasri is also a talented painter, and she often works on commissioned projects. She also works as a part-time model.
Taking her love for music, dance, and culture to another level, she founded Ahuti. Sivasri is the Founder and Director of Ahuti; the organisation aims at promoting arts, inclusivity, and cultural diversity via their online training programs.
But what is astonishing is the fact that apart from being multi-talented in various art forms, Sivasri also has a background in bioengineering. Truly, then, she is a rare blend of beauty, brains, and talent.
