The Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tata Group subsidiaries, Amalgamated Plantations Private Limited (APPL) and the Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), to boost tourism in the state. The agreement was signed during a ceremony held in Guwahati on Saturday.

As part of this MoU, a Taj Resort and Spa will be developed with an investment of INR 120 crore. APPL, in partnership with IHCL, will also focus on building modern hotel and hospitality infrastructure in Kaziranga. The Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) will act as the nodal agency for the project’s implementation on behalf of the Government of Assam.

During the signing ceremony, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed his gratitude to the Tata Group for collaborating with the state government to promote eco-tourism. He emphasized that this initiative would provide a significant boost to the state’s tourism sector. The project is anticipated to create over 200 direct jobs and elevate the luxury hospitality experience in Kaziranga.

The Chief Minister marked the day as a milestone for Assam, citing the initiation of two major projects: the groundbreaking ceremony for a semiconductor unit in Jagiroad and the MoU for a star hotel in Kaziranga. He believes these developments will be transformative for the state’s growth.
