Ashutosh Gowariker shows off his dance moves as he performs Mitwa from Lagaan at son Konark Gowariker's wedding sangeet: Watch video

Filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker set the stage on fire at his son Konark Gowariker’s wedding sangeet as he performed on Mitwa from his Oscar-nominated film Lagaan. The event, held on March 1, was part of the grand wedding celebrations of Konark and Niyati Kanakia, daughter of businessman Rasesh Babubhai Kanakia of Kanakia Builders.
A video from the sangeet has surfaced online, showing the Jodhaa Akbar director delivering an energetic performance on the iconic song. The guests cheered as Ashutosh showcased his dance moves, while his son, overwhelmed by emotion, joined him on stage and hugged him. The heartwarming moment was met with applause from the audience.
The pre-wedding festivities began with the haldi ceremony on February 28, followed by a star-studded sangeet. The wedding was a lavish affair, attended by film and business industry stalwarts. The couple exchanged vows in a beautifully decorated venue, combining tradition with modern elegance.
The reception was an equally grand event, graced by Bollywood stars and political figures, including Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Raj Thackeray, Eknath Shinde, Abhishek Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Anupam Kher, Chunky Panday, and Sajid Khan.
Known for his cinematic masterpieces like Lagaan, Swades, and Jodhaa Akbar, Ashutosh Gowariker has left an indelible mark on Indian cinema. Now, his son Konark is poised to follow in his footsteps. Having extensively studied filmmaking and worked closely behind the scenes, Konark is gearing up to make his own mark in the industry.
The wedding was a spectacular event, bringing together the worlds of Bollywood and business to celebrate not only a union of hearts but also the promise of a bright future—both in matrimony and in cinema.
