Ashish Chanchlani questioned by Guwahati Police in India’s Got Latent obscenity case: 'He has cooperated with us'

Popular YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani appeared before the Guwahati Police Crime Branch on Thursday for questioning in connection with an obscenity case linked to the YouTube show India’s Got Latent.
Following his questioning, Chanchlani’s legal team has filed a petition requesting either the dismissal of the FIR or its transfer to Mumbai, where he resides and operates his YouTube channel. The petition also challenges the jurisdiction of Guwahati Police in the case.
Guwahati Joint Police Commissioner Ankur Jain confirmed the development, stating, “YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani appeared before the Crime Branch today for questioning. He has cooperated with our investigation. He has been allowed to leave after questioning.” Jain further added that while Chanchlani is not being summoned again at this stage, authorities may call him back if required.
With investigations ongoing, police have stated that other individuals, Apoorva Mukhija and Jaspreet Singh, named in the FIR have yet to respond to summons, and fresh notices will be issued soon.
The controversy has erupted from alleged obscene remarks made on India’s Got Latent, a YouTube show that has drawn complaints for its explicit content. The FIR, filed in Guwahati, accuses the show’s creators and participants of “promoting obscenity and engaging in sexually explicit and vulgar discussion.”

Chanchlani, along with four others, including YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, has been named in the FIR under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Information Technology Act, Cinematograph Act, and Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act.

Meanwhile, Ranveer Allahbadia was questioned by Maharashtra Cyber officials earlier this week regarding a controversial parental sex joke made on Samay Raina’s India’s Got Latent show. According to NDTV, Allahbadia admitted his mistake and claimed he participated in the show due to his friendship with Samay Raina.
