Is it mindful? Is it demure? Is it brat? The It Girls are playing both sides this week from Anushka Sharma to Kareena Kapoor Khan and more. On one end, there’s the bold, unapologetic “brat” aesthetic; on the other, the “anti-brat” aka demure dressing which leans more towards sophistication and modesty. Stars like Emily Ratajkowski and Ananya Panday opted for the former, while Kareena Kapoor Khan and Anushka Sharma went with the latter.
With a clever play on primary colours, Anushka Sharma balanced the understated with bold. She paired a light blue cropped shirt from Maje Paris, featuring a soft circular collar with vibrant red high-waisted, straight-leg sweatpants from Coperni. While some may consider it a clash, the unusual pairing works with a nod to sportscore.
On the other hand, Kareena Kapoor Khan’s minimal look took colour out of the picture. While she took to Instagram busy “Pouting and being DEMURE🙊❤️💁🏻♀️”, she nailed the effortless look with a white button-up shirt featuring delicate stripes. The versatile shirt featured a sharp collar, buttoned cuffs, and wide-leg denim pants. However, what stood out was her choice of arm candy —a chic Loewe crossbody raffia bag.
Further, celebrities like Triptii Dimri, Alaya F and more resorted to their versions of understated and modest looks–where Dimri went for a preppy style bodycon Suryasarkar dress complimented with shoes and bag from Jimmy Choo—Alaya F delivered a monochromatic Gauri and Nainka dress with a plunging neckline.
On the flip side, Emily Ratajkowski and Ananya Panday served brat-coded looks. The supermodel selected a striped gown in the brattiest shade of green possible. The standout archival piece from Tom Ford’s fall 2004 collection for Gucci, came featuring sheer panels and fringe details. She complemented the look with dazzling diamond jewels from Pasquale Bruni. Not just that, Ananya Panday served a standout orange-and-black ensemble from Prabal Gurung.
