Anupam Kher responds to fan asking about joining politics full-time: 'You just have to be a great citizen'

Veteran actor Anupam Kher was recently asked by a curious fan about his potential plans to join politics, given his vocal support for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). This prompted him to clarify his position on entering politics.
On Monday, Kher hosted an #AskAnupam session on X, where he responded to various questions from fans and followers. During this interactive session, he addressed several queries, showcasing his engaging personality.
During a session, a fan asked Anupam, “Why don’t you get into politics full-time? You’ll be an asset to the Modi government.” In response, Kher expressed that he is content being an ‘asset’ to the country through his work as an actor, teacher, and motivational speaker. “Thank you for the suggestion and your appreciation! But I believe to be an asset for the country you don’t have to join politics! You just have to be a great citizen (sic),” he wrote.
One user asked, “Hello, Anupam Uncle! How to embrace baldness?” The actor replied, “You don’t need to embrace baldness. Just shave your head. And you will be an esteemed member of prestigious club of baldies”.
The actor also disclosed that his X account was locked just hours before the session, but it was quickly reinstated. “Dear X! Even though my account has been restored I was surprised to see it locked. I have been on this platform since September 2007. Have always been mindful of rules of #X (formerly twitter). Or for that matter any social media copyright rules. So found it a little absurd. Would love to know which post of mine did violate your rules? Thanks,” he wrote.
Anupam Kher was recently seen in Kangana Ranaut’s film ‘Emergency’, which portrayed the political turmoil during the 1975-77 Emergency under former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Despite its historical significance, the film did not fare well at the box office. Kher has now announced his next project, a yet-to-be-titled film with Prabhas, directed by Hanu Raghavapudi and produced by Mythri Movie Makers, marking his 544th film.
