Anup Soni reveals Raj Babbar did a background check on him before his marriage to Juhi Babbar: 'Unhone 10 logon se bhi pucha hoga toh...'

Television actor Anup Soni and actress Juhi Babbar have been happily married for 14 years and share a 12-year-old son, Imaan Soni. While both had experienced challenges in their first marriages, their journey together has been one of understanding and mutual respect. In a recent interview with Fever FM, Anup shared an interesting revelation about his father-in-law, veteran actor Raj Babbar that he conducted a background check on him before agreeing to the marriage.
Recalling his first meeting with Raj Babbar, Anup shared that he had anticipated a set of questions from him. However, he later suspected that Raj had already done his research. “Shayad unhone mere baare mein bahut kuch pata kiya tha, aisa meri feeling hai. Maine kabhi pucha nahi unse. I think so, I have a feeling. Unhone, see I’m part of the industry and mujhe aisa lagta hai agar unhone 10 logon se bhi pucha hoga toh usme se 80% logon ne acha hi bola tha toh shayad vo bhi kahi na kahi criteria tha unke dimaag mein ki ‘Chalo, jo mujhe lag raha hai aur jo log keh rahe hai thik hai’ (Maybe he found out a lot about me—that’s what I feel. I never asked him, but I have a feeling. Since I’m part of the industry, I believe that if he had asked 10 people about me, at least 80% would have said good things. So maybe that also played a role in his decision, like, ‘Alright, what I feel and what people are saying seem to match).”
Juhi also spoke about the nervousness she felt when introducing Anup to her father for the first time. She admitted she was unsure of how he would react but had faith in Anup’s self-made journey in the entertainment industry. She believed that since Raj Babbar himself came from a humble background and worked hard to make a name for himself, he would understand Anup’s struggles and respect his career.

When asked about the qualities she admires most in her husband, Juhi expressed how she had made the right decision in marrying Anup. She highlighted how he seamlessly blended into her family and respected not just her parents but also her extended relatives. “That meant a lot to me,” she shared.

Juhi and Anup come from different entertainment backgrounds—while Juhi has been a prominent theatre artist, Anup has had a long-standing career in television. The couple tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in 2011 and have maintained a strong and happy marriage despite their contrasting personalities.
