Another collision: 15 dead in Bolivia after pickup truck pushes bus off highway

A collision between a pickup truck and a bus in southern Bolivia on Monday claimed at least 15 lives and injured 19 others, news agency Reuters reported.
According to local police, the injured passengers were taken to the hospital after the pickup truck pushed the bus off the highway.
This comes days after two passenger buses collided on a highway in southern Bolivia, leaving at least 37 people dead, including eight minors.
Another 41 people were injured and transported to hospitals, police said.
Six foreigners were among those killed – five Peruvians and a three-year-old German girl. Seven other minors also died.
Bolivia’s mountainous terrain, poor road maintenance, and lack of oversight contribute to approximately 1,400 road fatalities annually, making its roads among the most dangerous in the world. Bolivia has witnessed multiple deadly crashes in recent months.
In February, over 30 people died when a bus plunged nearly 800 meters (2,625 feet) into a ravine between Potosí and Oruro.
