NEW DELHI: Union home minister Amit Shah on Friday said the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) did not put forth any condition, as the party reunited with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) ahead of next year’s Tamil Nadu assembly elections.

Shah, a former BJP president said, “AIADMK has no conditions and demands. We will not interfere in the internal matters of the AIADMK. This alliance is going to be beneficial to both the NDA and AIADMK.”
The Tamil Nadu assembly elections, he asserted, will be contested under the leadership of former chief minister Edapaddi K Palaniswami, the AIADMK general secretary.
Shah was joined at the press conference in Chennai by Palaniswami, BJP Tamil Nadu unit’s ex-chief K Annamalai, and others.
AIADMK exited the NDA in September 2023, months before the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. More recently, the party voted against the NDA central government’s Waqf (Amendment) Bill in Rajya Sabha.
However, the Bill was passed due to NDA’s majority in both houses of Parliament. It became a law following President Droupadi Murmu assent.
