Alia Bhatt reveals she regulates Raha Kapoor’s screen time, says Soni Razdan felt horrible for letting her watch television for a long time

Alia Bhatt and her unique bond with her little Raha Kapoor often steal the spotlight online. Ranbir Kapoor and Alia welcomed their little bundle of joy in 2022. Unlike her own childhood, where television was a constant companion, Alia has set strict boundaries for Raha, keeping digital distractions at bay.
In a recent conversation with Jay Shetty on his podcast, Alia recalled her fascination with television and how times have changed. She often talks to her mother, Soni Razdan, about her deep attachment to TV as a child. Her mother now feels that she was a horrible mother for allowing her to watch television, thinking it was normal. Even if Raha has significant screen time, Alia ensures that her time in front of the TV—whether watching songs or anything else—never exceeds a certain duration. The ‘Jigra’ actress added that Raha has not even looked at an iPad.

When Alia’s mother expressed guilt over letting her have excessive screen time, she reassured her, saying, “‘No, you weren’t horrible because it was a new phenomenon at that time, perhaps. I’m grateful she didn’t stop me from being in front of the television because a lot of my dreaming, imagining, and getting lost in the world started from there,’” she shared.
Alia also expressed how motherhood has completely transformed her perspective and daily routine. She admitted that, despite any preparations, nothing truly prepares one for the emotional depth of being a mother. She shared how motherhood has completely changed her life, making her days busier and more structured. She recalled a conversation with her mother, who told her that pre-motherhood memories tend to fade. Alia admitted she barely remembers her life before becoming a mother and often wonders how she used to spend her time. Now, her daily routine revolves around Raha, starting early at 7 AM and ending by 10:30 PM, feeling like a non-stop cycle.
Though Raha is still too young to watch films, she has caught glimpses of songs featuring her parents, Alia and Ranbir Kapoor. The toddler amusingly assumes all songs belong to either of them, including “Aankhein Khuli” from ‘Mohabbatein’.
As Raha grows older, Alia hopes to introduce her to films that align with her childhood world, such as ‘Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva’ and ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’. However, when the time is right, she wants her daughter to experience the movies that played a crucial role in shaping her career—’Highway’, ‘Raazi’, and ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’.
