Actor Posani Krishna Murali taken into custody in Hyderabad over derogatory remarks case
Telugu actor and writer Posani Krishna Murali, 66, was arrested by Hyderabad police on February 26, 2025, from his residence. He faces serious charges including making derogatory comments against political leaders and communities. These charges are non-bailable. He was forwarded to judicial custody. Posani previously faced legal issues for similar remarks and supported YSRCP.

Telugu actor and writer Posani Krishna Murali was taken into custody by the police in Hyderabad on February 26, 2025. The 66-year-old actor was arrested at his residence near New Science Colony, Yellareddyguda, at around 8:45 pm. This move comes after multiple cases were filed against him under non-bailable sections of the law.
The arrest was made under sections 196, 353(2), and 111 read with 3(5) of the IPC, along with other charges as per a News18 report. These sections pertain to serious offenses that are cognizable and non-bailable, meaning that the police can arrest without a warrant and the accused cannot be released on bail as a matter of right.
Posani Krishna Murali’s arrest is linked to allegations of making derogatory comments against certain political leaders and communities.
He received a notice that was served to his wife; it reads, “The offense committed by him is cognizable and non-bailable in nature, and he is forwarded to the Hon’ble Additional Judicial Magistrate of 1st Class, Rajampet, for judicial custody.”
In the past, he faced legal trouble for similar remarks, including those against former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. Posani Krishna Murali had been an active supporter of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP), led by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, before the 2024 elections.
Posani Krishna Murali is known for his comedy and character roles in Telugu cinema.
