Dangal actress Zaira Wasim‘s father passed away. The star took to her social media handle on Tuesday and wrote, ‘Verily the eyes shed tears and the heart grieves, but we will not say except that which is pleasing to our Lord. My father, Zahid Wasim, has passed away. Please remember him in your prayers and ask Allah to forgive his shortcomings, make his grave peaceful, protect him from its torment, ease his journey from here ahead. May he be called to an easy accounting and be granted the highest level of Jannah and Maghrirah. Indeed, we belong to Allah, and Indeed, to Him, we shall return.’

Zaira Wasim was accompanied by her mother and father for a film event a few years ago. Earlier, she mourned the loss of her Dangal co-star Suhani Bhatnagar and said that she was shocked beyond words by the news of Suhani passing away. She even said that the thought of what her parents must be experiencing fills her with sorrow.

On the work front, Zaira made her Bollywood debut in 2016 and played the younger version of Geeta Phogat in Dangal film. Zaira was 16 years old when she played the role of a Haryanvi wrestler and the daughter of Mahavir Singh Phogat, a veteran wrestler in Nitesh Tiwari’s film. She was even seen in The Sky Is Pink which starred Farhan Akhtar and Priyanka Chopra, and Rohit Saraf.
Zaira later played the role of an aspiring singer in Advait Chandan’s 2017 film Secret Superstar. The film starred Aamir Khan in an extended guest appearance. She quit her acting career in 2019 at the age of 18 post Shonali Bose’s film The Sky Is Pink.
