Aamir Khan reveals Raveena Tandon and Karisma Kapoor were not on good terms during Andaz Apna Apna shoot: 'Bahut mushkil se woh film bani thi'

Rajkumar Santoshi’s 1994 comedy Andaz Apna Apna may have been a box-office disappointment upon release, but over the years, it has cemented its place as a cult classic. Starring Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Raveena Tandon, Karisma Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, and Shakti Kapoor, the film is celebrated for its quirky humor, iconic dialogues, and unforgettable characters.
At a recent India Today event, Aamir Khan reminisced about the making of the film, revealing the challenges faced during production. “We had a lovely time. Also, have to say it was also a tough time because I was the only actor who used to come on time. Karisma aati thi toh Raveena chali jati thi. Bahut mushkil se woh film bani thi (Karisma used to come for the shoot and leave, and then Raveena would come. It was a challenge to shoot it),” he shared.
The actor further disclosed that tensions between Raveena Tandon and Karisma Kapoor made filming even more difficult. “Don’t know if I should say this. Raveena and Karisma ka anban chal raha tha. Main sochta tha ki ye film kaise khatam hogi. Ek saath log shoot nahi kar paa rahe the (Raveena and Karisma were having some conflicts. I used to think how this film would ever be completed. People didn’t want to shoot with each other),” he admitted.

Despite the challenges, Aamir had unwavering faith in the project. “I really believed in that film. It was so wacky and mad. We were at our peak, Salman and I, at the time. But the film didn’t even run for a week. I was flummoxed, because I thought it was a great film. But now I believe it is the number one film in home entertainment. Every generation has seen it, every generation wants to see it,” he added.
Over time, Andaz Apna Apna has gained legendary status, thanks to its nonsensical comedy, witty one-liners, and memorable performances. The camaraderie between Aamir and Salman, along with Paresh Rawal’s dual role and Shakti Kapoor’s hilarious portrayal of Crime Master Gogo, has made it a fan favorite across generations.

On the work front, Aamir was last seen in Laal Singh Chaddha alongside Kareena Kapoor Khan. He is now gearing up for Sitaare Zameen Par, where he will be seen alongside Genelia D’Souza in a pivotal role.
