The globally recognised event’s India-edition was held on the eve of 23rd November 2022 at the Royal Opera House in Mumbai, which saw the community decked out in their black-tie finery running with the theme of cocktails and diamonds. With Dame Anna Wintour launching the event during her first-ever visit to the country, the crowd was no doubt a mix of fashion’s biggest names. The event was graced by Vogue’s fashion family that included the likes of Mira Rajput Kapoor, Ayushmann Khurrana, Vijay Varma, Aditi Rao Hydari, Ananya Birla, Masoom Minawala. Amongst the celebrities and the fashion set at large were the country’s beloved designers such as Sabyasachi, Sanjay Garg of Raw Mango, Manish Malhotra, Dhruv Kapoor, Masaba Gupta and many more notable names who all graced the event for a night of celebrations and discussions around India’s burgeoning fashion scene.

The purpose of the event was to highlight talent, creativity, and give a platform to the rising voices of the fashion industry, and the focus for the night was just that. To cement that groundwork, Forces of Fashion shined the spotlight on the country’s meticulous craftsmanship, the inclusion of intersectionality in fashion and culture and much more. These were all themes that were unpacked by a star panel consisting of Vogue chief content officer, Condé Nast and global editorial director Anna Wintour, Vogue India’s head of editorial content, Megha Kapoor and the pioneer of Indian handloom, Sabyasachi Mukherjee.

As a celebration of fashion in India, the heritage building was transformed into a lively multi-cultural space with Indian marigolds wrapped around bannisters across staircases from post to pillar, all arranged by Libellule by Nazneen Jehangir. The visual highlight of the evening however, was the exclusive natural diamond jewellery exhibit and the art installations curated for the guests to witness. With examples of the finest diamond jewellery from renowned names like DeBeers, Raniwala 1881, Gem Palace,VAK and more, the displays offered an insight into India’s love for opulence, heritage and fine craftsmanship.

It’s only fitting that a night celebrating all things fashion should highlight the grandeur of Indian luxury that comes through with artisanal diamonds and the objets de art on show. From jewellery boxes, ornate bangles to intricate necklaces, the guests could take away a rare bit of history behind each piece with them. To add to the ambience of the evening, the guests were entertained in a traditional manner with live performances given by skilled Bharatnatyam dancers
