Badshah faces backlash for shouting ‘Free Samay Raina’ during live concert; Netizens react - ‘When was he arrested?’

The controversy around Samay Raina and Ranveer Allahbadia is intensified with every passing day. Amid the whole legal drama and online outrage sparked by the controversial comment made by Ranveer Allahbadia on Samay Raina’s show ‘India’s Got Latent,’ a lot of public figures have shared their reactions. While some have condemned the show and the comedians for their content, some have come in support of them. Singer-rapper Badshah falls in the latter category.
Recently, during a live show at Parul University in Vadodara, Gujarat, Badshah gave a shoutout to Samay. Towards the end of his concert, as Badahsh was thanking the audience, he took a moment to express his support for Samay Raina amid the ongoing controversy. “Free Samay Raina,” he shouted from the stage, and while the live audience gave him a huge cheer for the gesture, the internet didn’t seem impressed by his action.
Sharing the video, where Badshah was seen giving the shoutout, a Reddit user wrote – “You could have just said ‘I stand with Samay Raina,’ but no worries, maybe next time.” While another netizen wrote, “Free Samay Raina? When was he arrested?”
“Overdid it, but okay. Second-hand embarrassing ‘free’ lol. Samay isn’t in jail; he’s in the US playing chess,” remarked a user.
“Free Samay Raina? Are these guys idiots? Is he in jail? Is this issue really that big of a social cause?” – read another comment.
For the unversed, Badshah and Samay have collaborated for work in the past. Samay made an appearance in the song ‘Baawe’ which was Badshah and Raftaar’s collaboration. Badshah also came as a guest panelist in one of the episodes of ‘India’s Got Latent.’
Meanwhile, as the police are investigating the case following multiple FIRs and complaints, Samay Raina has deleted all his episodes of Latent from YouTube. Shedding light on his decision, he wrote on X – “Everything that is happening has been too much for me to handle. I have removed all India’s Got Latent videos from my channel. My only objective was to make people laugh and have a good time. I will fully cooperate with all agencies to ensure their inquiries are concluded fairly. Thank you.”
