'Don’t Google it, Just Grok it': Elon Musk endorses Grok AI chatbot by X

Elon Musk, the CEO of X and founder of xAI, endorsed his AI chatbot Grok in a post on X on Sunday (IST). Sharing a post that read, “Don’t Google it, Just Grok it,” Musk responded with a simple “Yes,” employing his signature endorsement style without explicitly promoting the product.
The move comes amid growing competition between Grok and Google’s AI-driven services, particularly in the fields of language models and search capabilities.
Grok 3, the latest iteration of the chatbot developed by xAI, is being positioned as a direct competitor to Google’s AI models, including Gemini. Musk has repeatedly claimed that Grok could “replace Google Search,” underscoring his ambition to challenge Google’s dominance in the search market.
In a post from an X-affiliated account, a bold claim was made: “Grok 3 will replace Google Search. People aren’t going to Google to search anymore. They are using apps like Grok now.” Musk himself reposted the statement, reinforcing his company’s intent to rival the search giant.
Despite these claims, there has been no public response from OpenAI’s Sam Altman, Google’s parent company Alphabet, or Chinese AI chatbot DeepSeek. Notably, Altman had previously acknowledged DeepSeek’s capabilities when it made headlines, but he has remained silent on Grok.
Grok 3, which reportedly has ten times the computational power of its predecessor, runs on xAI’s Colossus supercomputer, utilizing over 100,000 Nvidia GPU hours for training. Speaking at the World Governments Summit in Dubai, Musk described the chatbot’s abilities, stating, “At times, I think Grok 3 is scary smart.”
Following its release, Musk announced on X, “The @xAI Grok 3 release will improve rapidly every day this week. Please report any issues as a reply to this post.” In a rare exchange, Google CEO Sundar Pichai responded, saying, “Congrats on the progress! Look forward to trying it out.”
Grok 3 is being rolled out to Premium Plus subscribers on X. Musk also announced a new subscription plan, “Super Grok,” which will offer advanced capabilities and early access to new features through the Grok app and website, grok.com.
Encouraging users to stay updated, Musk added, “Make sure to update your X app to explore all the advanced features, as we’ve just released the update.” He further revealed plans for a voice interaction feature, saying, “The goal is to make it so you can talk to it just like you would a person. I think it’s going to be one of the best experiences with Grok 3, but that should be about a week away.”
