Mawra Hocane on Sanam Teri Kasam re-release, missing India: 'Pakistanis love Indian movies just how Indians love Pakistani dramas' - Exclusive

Mawra Hocane is overjoyed by the unexpected success of Sanam Teri Kasam upon its re-release, calling it a “miracle.” Speaking to ETimes, she expressed gratitude for the film’s newfound appreciation, something it lacked during its initial release.
“It feels like a miracle, unbelievable and of course I’m so so grateful,” Mawra told us.
She revealed that she hasn’t been in touch with co-star Harshvardhan Rane or the film’s team, as the film’s failure was “heartbreaking” for all. However, she praised Rane as a “wonderful co-star” and acknowledged the possibility of Sanam Teri Kasam 2.
“Harshvardhan is a wonderful costar, so much to learn from! Unfortunately I’ve not been in touch with anyone, the failure of the film was immensely heartbreaking for all of us. For me it was something I wasn’t able to deal with or be able to console one another so we slowly lost touch,” she admitted.
Discussing the film’s enduring appeal, Mawra credited its “honesty and relatability,” adding that the “pure love story resonated with audiences over the years.” She further reflected, “Like they say, der aaye, durust aaye—I think it was destined to shine now.”

When asked whether Indian films should be released in Pakistan and Pakistani artistes should work in India, she strongly supported cultural exchange. “They should definitely be open. Pakistanis love Indian movies just how Indians love Pakistani dramas. The love and appreciation is mutual and I think there are no barriers in our hearts,” she stated.
Mawra also reminisced about her time in India, calling it an “enriching experience.” She revealed her admiration for Bollywood, naming Salman Khan as her all-time favorite and Ranbir Kapoor as her favorite from the current generation.

“I have had one of the most beautiful & enriching experiences in India, I’ve learnt so much that I’m so grateful for & after so many years it all feels like a sweet dream that passed. I have definitely watched a lot of Bollywood films. I absolutely love Salman Khan sir when it comes to old or new movies. From the current lot my favourite is Ranbir Kapoor for sure, I’ve always admired his work,” she concluded.
