Ektaa Kapoor to file Rs 100 crore defamation suit amid legal battle over Hindustani Bhau’s 2020 complaint alleging disrespect to Indian soldiers

Producer Ektaa Kapoor, along with her family and ALT Digital Media Entertainment Ltd., is gearing up to take stringent legal action against individuals allegedly spreading false and misleading information about them. In an official statement issued by her legal representative, Advocate Rizwan Siddiquee, Kapoor announced her intent to file a Rs 100 crore civil defamation lawsuit, alongside criminal proceedings, against those propagating defamatory claims.
Siddiquee’s legal notice states that certain parties, motivated by “personal vested interests coupled with hidden agendas and criminal motives,” have been circulating misleading narratives about Kapoor. These allegations stem from a 2020 police complaint, which, according to the statement, “was already closed by the said Police Department.” Despite the matter being settled, some individuals have allegedly continued to exploit it to defame Kapoor and her media brand.
Amid this legal battle, a Mumbai court has directed the city police to conduct an inquiry into a criminal complaint filed against Ektaa Kapoor for allegedly disrespecting Indian soldiers in one of her web series. The Bandra magistrate’s court has sought a report from the police by May 9 under Section 202 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, which allows a magistrate to investigate a complaint or direct the police to do so.

Ekta Kapoor In Legal Trouble? Case Filed Under POCSO Act Against Her For THIS Reason

The complaint was filed by YouTuber Vikas Pathak, popularly known as Hindustani Bhau, and names Ektaa Kapoor, her OTT platform Alt Balaji, as well as her parents, Shobha and Jeetendra Kapoor.

As per the complaint filed through Advocate Ali Kaashif Khan Deshmukh, an episode of an Alt Balaji web series allegedly depicted a military officer engaging in an “illicit sexual act.” Pathak claimed he came across the episode in May 2020 and accused Kapoor and her platform of “stooping to a cheap low and shamelessly targeting the dignity and pride of our country.” The complaint further alleges that the scene involved the Indian Army uniform and the national emblem, sparking outrage.
