'Hiding truth sign of guilt': Akhilesh Yadav's jab after PM Modi's Maha Kumbh post
SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and Prime Minister Narendra Modi

NEW DELHI: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, in a veiled attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his post on Maha Kumbh, asked him to post something on people who died in the stampede on January 29 and said that hiding the truth is a sign of guilt.
Without naming PM Modi in his post, Uttar Pradesh’s former chief minister took a sharp swipe at the prime minister’s post where he said that during the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, deities, saints, elders, women, and youth gathered, and witnessed the awakened consciousness of the nation.
“If not two minutes of silence… while writing such a big thing about Maha Kumbh, you should have also written a few words for the dead and the missing people. Hiding the truth is a sign of ‘guilt’,” Akhilesh Yadav said in Hindi in a post on X.
At least 30 people were killed and as many as 60 were injured in a stampede at the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj.
Earlier, PM Modi described the Maha Kumbh as a symbol of unity and a reflection of the nation’s evolving consciousness.
“The Maha Kumbh has concluded. A great ritual of unity was completed. When the consciousness of a nation awakens, breaking free from the shackles of centuries of slavery mentality and begins to breathe with new vitality, such a scene emerges as we witnessed in the Kumbh of unity at Prayagraj after January 13,” he said.
PM Modi also mentioned the mythological and spiritual importance of Shringverpur, a site in Prayagraj associated with Lord Ram and Nishadraj.
“In the same region of Prayagraj, there is the sacred area of Shringverpur, a symbol of unity, harmony, and love, where Lord Ram met Nishadraj. This meeting in our history is like a confluence of devotion and goodwill. This pilgrimage site in Prayagraj continues to inspire us with lessons of unity and harmony.”
Maha Kumbh 2025 concluded on February 26 and witnessed millions of devotees participating in rituals, prayers, and holy dips, reinforcing its cultural and religious significance.
