Mumbai Indians sign Mujeeb Ur Rahman in place of Allah Ghazanfar

NEW DELHI: Afghanistan off-spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman was signed by the five-time champion Mumbai Indians on Sunday to replace Allah Ghazanfar, who has been sidelined for the IPL 2025 due to an injury.
The 18-year-old Afghan spinner will also miss the forthcoming Champions Trophy due to a fracture in his L4 vertebra, notably in his left pars interarticularis.
Ghazanfar had sustained the injury during Afghanistan’s recent tour to Zimbabwe.
“Mumbai Indians wish Ghazanfar a speedy recovery and a warm welcome to Mujeeb into the #OneFamily,” MI said in a statement.
One of the youngest players to ever represent Afghanistan, Mujeeb made an immediate impression and made his IPL debut at the age of 17.
With an economy of about 6.5, Mujeeb has taken 330 wickets in more than 300 T20 (international and domestic) matches.
In the IPL mega auction, the Mumbai Indians paid Rs 4.80 crore to get the promising 18-year-old off-spinner Ghazanfar.
