EXCLUSIVE! Govinda and Sunita Ahuja heading for divorce after 37 years? Here's what we know

Govinda has been married to Sunita Ahuja since March 1987. They have been together since 37 years and clearly, have showcased their strong bond at several occasions. While Sunita has been away from the limelight all these years, she’s now an internet sensation, thanks to her candid revelations, laughter and vibe. But the internet is now in a huge shock with reports that the couple is heading for a divorce.
Amidst these reports, a source close to the family has told ETimes, “Sunita apparently had sent a separation notice a few months ago but there has been no movement since then. “
When ETimes contacted Govinda’s manager Shashi Sinha, he said, ” There have been issues between the couple due to certain statements made by certain members from the family. There is nothing more to it and Govinda is in process of starting a film for which artists are visiting our office. We are trying to resolve it. “
When we contacted Govinda, he just reacted saying there are only business talks going. “I am in the process of starting my films,” he said. Meanwhile, Sunita has not responded to our messages.
Reports suggested that they are heading for a divorce due to frequent quarrels and differences in their lifestyles. Rumours are also rife that Govinda’s closeness to his 30-year old Marathi co-star played a part in their split as per reports of Bollywood Now and Telly Masala.
A while ago, Sunita had revealed in an interview with Hindi Rush, that she lives in a separate apartment with her children and doesn’t stay with Govinda. The actor stays in a bungalow on the same street. After this interview, she had visited Shirdi and was asked by the paps about living separately. That’s when she laughed and said, “Kisi ki majaal hai joh mujhe Govinda se alag karke dikhaaye. Nobody can separate us. I have a lot of fun with him. There are people who want to break homes more than outsiders. I won’t let anyone break homes. I will win because Baba is with me.”
Sunita has also said in several interviews that while she was a secure wife earlier, she feels insecure now as Govinda is now above 60. “Saanth ke baad aadmi sathiyaa jaata hai. Pataa nahi kya karde,” she laughed.
Sunita was also seen giving advice to women, to keep a check on their husbands. She said, “Take care of your men. Men are like a cricket—sometimes good, sometimes bad. I have always told women to hold their men in their hands like I have. If you can’t hold them, hit them.”
Govinda and Sunita have two children – Narmada (Tina) Ahuja and Yashvardhan.
