Marvel’s latest superhero venture, ‘Captain America: Brave New World’, is off to a slow start at the Indian box office. Despite the franchise’s popularity, the film has failed to generate significant buzz among fans.

According to early estimates by the Sacnilk website, the film collected Rs 4 crore on its second day, bringing its total India earnings to Rs 8.3 crore. On its opening day, the movie earned Rs 4.3 crore, with English contributing Rs 2.25 crore, Hindi Rs 1.5 crore, Tamil Rs 0.35 crore, and Telugu Rs 0.2 crore.

Occupancy rates also indicate a lukewarm response. The film had an overall 23.26% English occupancy on February 15, 2025, with the night shows recording the highest attendance at 27.09%. In Hindi (3D), the overall occupancy stood at just 11.66%, with the night shows reaching 17.33%. Meanwhile, Hindi (2D) screenings had an even lower occupancy of 10.02%.
Directed by Julius Onah, Captain America: Brave New World stars Anthony Mackie as the new Captain America, alongside Harrison Ford, Danny Ramirez, Shira Haas, and Liv Tyler. Despite its star-studded cast, the film’s lackluster performance raises concerns about audience fatigue with Marvel’s recent offerings.
ETimes gave a 3 star out of 5 for the film. Our review reads, “Anthony Mackie, as the more grounded and slightly less ‘super’ superhero compared to his predecessor, is relatable and proves to be a worthy successor as Captain America. Danny Ramirez brings charisma to Falcon, clearly enjoying the role and making him effortlessly cool. Harrison Ford stands out as the once-villainous but now somewhat reformed military general, while Shira Haas makes a strong impression as Ruth Bat-Seraph, a former Israeli Black Widow turned Ross’s head of security. Captain Amerca: Brave New World is a serviceable instalment, though the CGI remains somewhat underwhelming. The face-off between Captain America and Red Hulk is a highlight but arrives too late into the movie. Despite its convoluted plot and occasional pacing issues, Brave New World delivers thrilling aerial battles and hand-to-hand combats, strong performances, and enough spectacle to entertain superhero fans.”
With its second-day collections failing to pick up momentum, it remains to be seen whether Captain America: Brave New World can recover in the coming days.
